BoGy review of a student

In the spring, three students from the Geschwister-Scholl-Schule in Tübingen completed their internship at the MPI for Biological Cybernetics. Among them was the ninth grader Max Weigel, who gave us an interview:

Hi Max! What were your expectations on the internship?
I wanted to take a closer look at the institute and wanted to see how this works here - especially with VR (Virtual Reality). I personally find this very interesting as I wanted to see how they use this technology to make experiments in order to get meaningful results. 

What did you take along during your internship?
All of my questions were answered. I have met a lot of people who were not only interesting, but I also had a lot of fun talking and listening to them. I found it particularly interesting that so many different people work together on one problem and try solving it - psychologists, philosophers, etc. 

Could you imagine a scientific career later?
It's probably fifty-fifty. My father is a professor here, so this scientific environment has always influenced me. I could imagine that, but I could also imagine doing something else - also science or something with computers. I find that fun. 

What did you enjoy most during this week?
I have done something very different every day and everyone has tried to present his work so that it was really interesting and also understandable for me. Above all, it was cool to play with VR. We even programmed a bit. Seeing the simulators was a highlight! We were also allowed to drive, which was a lot of fun.
