International Day of Women and Girls in Science
February 11 marks the International Day of Women and Girls in Science. Please join us to promote full and equal access to and participation in science for women and girls.
Gender equality and equal access to scientific professions is still not a matter of course. In the natural sciences for example, many countries are far from achieving this objective at all levels of the education system. According to the UNESCO Institute for Statistics, the worldwide share of women in research and development work is less than 30 percent. For this reason, every year on February 11, UNESCO and UN Women mark this international anniversary to acommodate the decisive role girls and women play in science and technology.
