Simultaneous microscale NMR and EP at 14.1T
High resolution nmr and imaging experiments have been developed with the recent availability of the microcoils. Furthermore, comparative studies between MR microscopy and traditional histology have demonstrated the ability of this three-dimensional technique to serve as a non-invasive alternative to destructive histology. These spectroscopy results could be also achieved in conventional small animal scanners. This technology have push the development of fully integrated CMOS chips in order to reduce the complexity of the off-chip electronics and avoid losses with interconnections. Moreover, simultaneous electrophysiological recording from microelectrodes during MR signal acquisition have been studied and allowed to evidence the neuronal sources of the BOLD-fMRI signal.
The goal of this project is to detect neuronal activity-related changes of proton magnetization at high temporal resolution and sensitivity within small volumes of nanoliters accompanied by simultaneous recording of electrical activity.
