Main Focus

I am interested in developing novel imaging tools to record neural activity in freely moving animals and plan to use these tools to gain deeper insights into the mechanisms of brain function.

Curriculum Vitae

I, Yuchen Wu, received my Bachelor’s degree in Integrated Circuit Design and Integrated Systems (2022) and my Master’s degree in Optoelectronic Information Engineering (2025) in China. In the same year, I joined the Max Planck Institute for Biological Cybernetics in Tübingen, Germany, to pursue my doctoral studies.

During my Bachelor studies, I focused on hardware and software design, with particular interest in RISC-V processor design and software development. Building on this foundation, I explored the integration of computational methods with edge devices. For my Master’s studies, I shifted my research toward human brain and nonlinear optical microscopy, including disease pathology diagnosis, imaging system development, algorithm design, and data analysis. I developed a “real-time pathology” approach that combines label-free imaging technology, compact and portable device, with computational methods for fast denoising, segmentation, and classification, aiming at real-time brain tumor diagnosis.

Currently, my research interests lie in developing faster and more powerful microscopy systems and computational methods, with the long-term goal of applying them to fundamental questions in neuroscience.
