The Max Planck Institute for Biological Cybernetics in Tübingen (Germany) invites applications from outstanding scientists for the position of

Director

The Max Planck Institute for Biological Cybernetics (www.kyb.tuebingen.mpg.de) investigates information processing in the nervous system. The Institute uses experimental, theoretical, and computational methods to study perception, memory, appetite, decision-making, and motor performance. The Institute’s investigators are also directly involved in developing modern recording and imaging techniques. The Institute is multidisciplinary, has excellent facilities, and maintains close links with sister Max Planck Institutes and the University of Tübingen.

The Institute seeks one Director whose interests lie in and around the area of human cognition, involving (but not limited to) magnetic resonance imaging (MRI)-based neuroimaging applications. The position is likely to be filled by a scientist using cognitive neuroscience/functional neuroimaging/behavioral psychopharmacology methods. Directors should pursue bold long-term research agendas in their departments, lead the Institute together with fellow Directors and Max Planck Fellows, and help create an enthusiastically collaborative culture among departments and independent research groups.

The main criteria for appointing Directors are scientific and scholarly excellence and an innovative and unique research program. The Institute is looking for the strongest and most creative scientists and offers an excellent international research environment. The successful applicant will have access to an outstanding infrastructure that includes dedicated MRI scanners and long-term scientific funding. The Institute operates in the English language.

Applications will be held in confidence and should contain a full CV, including a complete list of publications, a brief summary of research accomplishments, a description of future goals, and names of three to five referees. Please send them as one PDF file to
