Practical Course / Blockpraktikum

Cognitive and Computational Psychophysics

The Max Planck Institute for Biological Cybernetics offers every year a practical course to the various research areas, methods and techniques for studying human perception. The event is held in English. The next practical course will take place in 2013.
General Course Information
This course is organized annually and has two main goals:
1) To introduce you to the various research areas, methods and techniques for studying human perception at the Max Planck Institute for Biological Cybernetics. The institute is a leading international research facility, which uses a combination of psychophysics, computational modeling and cutting-edge technology to study the human brain.
2) To give you „hands on" experience by conducting five mini-research projects related to on-going research projects.
Program for 2013
Four to seven experiments from different research fields e.g.: "Face recognition".
Participants will also get tutorials and various lab tours. More details to be announced later.
Course Requirement
The course is in English. Students should be at least in their fifth semester. Students who want to get a "Schein" or credits for this practical course are required to write a report in English. (Psychologie Studenten: Diplom-Studenten der Psychologie können sich für ihre Teilnahme am Blockpraktikum einen benoteten Schein für ein Praktikum in „Evaluation und Forschungsmethoden“ anrechnen lassen.)
Type of Course
Practical Course / Blockpraktikum (4 SWS)
