Kuno Kirschfeld

Position: Emeritus  Unit: Alumni Kirschfeld

Kuno Kirschfeld was director of the department Comparative Neurobiology at the Max Planck Institute for Biological Cybernetics from 1968 till his retirement in 2002. His main research interests were the primary processes and photo transduction in the photoreceptors of insects, physiological optics, visual pigments and the ion regulation in the nervous system. He further compared the processing of visual information in insects and vertebrates and the influence of common anesthesia on the nervous system.
