Die Magnetresonanzspektroskopie (MRS) erlaubt die Bestimmung von Gewebekonzentrationen und Umwandlungsraten verschiedener Stoffwechselprodukte in lebenden Tieren und Menschen in einer nichtinvasiven Art und Weise und ohne Strahlenbelastung. Diese Technik wird deshalb für die klinische Diagnostik eingesetzt und hat sich als ein wichtiges Instrument in der physiologischen Forschung etabliert. Die Arbeitsgruppe befasst sich mit Methodenentwicklung für die MRS unter Ausnutzung der Vorteile sehr hoher Magnetfelder und mit Anwendungen vor allem in den Bereichen Psychiatrische Bildgebung und Rückenmarksverletzungen.
