Working at the MPI

About 280 employees (200 of them scientists, postdocs and PhD students) and numerous guest scientists and students from more than 50 different countries are currently working at the Max Planck Institute for Biological Cybernetics.

Scientists and Postdocs can realize their research ideas. PhD, Master or Diplom Students can prepare their thesis under the supervision of our scientists and under the auspices of a university.
The Max Planck Institute also offers trainee positions to become an office administration clerk, precision mechanic or systems technician.

Furthermore an internship or a job as a research assistant can be done. Or one can simply participate in a perception experiment (participation will be financially compensated).

Note that even if at a given point in time, we might not have advertised scientific openings, we may still accept applications, provided they are outstanding.

Scientist/Postdoc position: CV, publication list, statement of research interests, names and contact data of two referees (Dept. Logothetis: three letters of recommendation).
Ph.D. student position: CV, grades (German Diplom / M.Sc.), statement of research interests.
(Please note that we normally cannot accept students with a bachelor degree for doing a Ph.D. with us. A comparable degree to German Diplom or a M.Sc. is required. It may, however, be possible to get this M.Sc. in Tübingen and write the M.Sc. thesis with us.)
Internship position: CV, grades, statement of future career plans and research interests.
